Vintage French Saint Michael Sword

This is a lovely, vintage, french, Saint MIchael Sword and Sheath - although I really don't know what it is or how it is worn/used. Maybe just a collector piece.
Metal with some wear to the silver finish as shown in the photos.
The sheath goes up or covers the pin portion as far as shown in photos.
It measures about 2 7/8" in length.
