I love these old, antique (most I have seen are dated late 1800s) thick medals of Mary (or Jesus). They have a "stamped" seal look.  (I have a smaller one dated 1897 on a shorter chain in this shop).

The french silver hallmark can be seen on the front ("boar's head"). This mark indicates a silver content of at least 800 or 80% silver (versus US sterling silver which is 925 or 92.5% silver).

A beautiful heirloom type medal. It measures about 7/8" in diameter.  Lovely patina.

The NEW chain is a "wheat" chain - sterling silver.  The length is approximately 20 inches.
