This is a lovely, vintage, french silver Virgo Maria medal.  The medal has the french silver hallmark indicating a silver content of at least 800 or 80% silver.

The medal measures over 1 1/8" in length including its loop (but not including its attach ring).

The little, antique, french cross is the type with a little photo inside - It looks like a scene of a city - maybe Paris - I think I see the Arc De Triumphe - there are words under the photo too but too tiny for me to read them.  You have to put your eye directly up to the curved side of the glass (see photo).

The chain is vintage, french and measures a little under 20 inches in length.  It too has the french silver hallmark.

Comes in a gift box.
